Summit Coffee is coffee with a mission. They approach coffee, community, and collaboration with hospitality in mind and a commitment to excellence. Through making trips around the world every few months to find and revisit coffee producers, to working with the same farmers and cooperatives year after year, Summit values relationships above all else in the supply chain.

They source responsibly and roast in small batches at a certified organic facility. From there, they distribute nationwide to their own cafés and partners with seasonal offerings on a quarterly basis. Everything Summit Coffee does – from their brick and mortar cafes, their roasting lab, and every franchisee – is rooted in bringing people together in communities and providing them with not just a delicious cup of coffee, but an experience.

As a coffee company, how do you differentiate yourself from businesses like Starbucks and other independent coffee shops? Summit believes cafés are best when locally owned – they’re excited to partner with like-minded entrepreneurs and to get the opportunity to set other people, communities, and businesses up for success. Each new Summit store carries out its mission and values, adding depth to our brand while bringing great coffee to more people. Contrary to the majority of the restaurant industry, the pandemic didn’t stop Summit Coffee’s growth. Summit started the pandemic with 3 stores and now has 7 stores open with 5 more in development. They aim to have 50 by 2025 and to grow the roasting and wholesale side of their business.

Summit always knew they wanted their own platform for online ordering. Coffee doesn’t always fare well on third-party apps – and they’re a hit to any business’ profit margins. During their discovery phase, Brian Helfrich, Summit’s owner, and CEO, made a post on LinkedIn expressing that they wanted to build an app. One of their wholesale clients, Clean Juice – who has been a Lunchbox client since 2020 – reached out and recommended Lunchbox (we love a good referral story). They wanted to build an app to provide a hospitality experience that catered to their primary customer demographic: young families. Smart.

Here’s some piping hot data you can gently sip on. Summit Coffee boasts one of the highest numbers of guest orders per month at Lunchbox. Summit Coffee guests order 13x more than the average coffee shop guest on Lunchbox. Their average number of guest orders is 13 times the company-wide average – even compared with our other coffee clients. On average, over 50% of guests are ordering two or more times per month, and 25% are ordering three or more times per month. They average over 100 brand new guests per month.
